The race (aka The Mini Transat) is contested every two years between France and Brazil.

The mini transat boat (officially the Classe Mini) is a 21-ft long open class offshore racing yacht whose primary purpose is to race single-handed across the Atlantic Ocean. While it is the smallest Open Class racing yacht it is also the most spectacular, with the highest power to weight ratio of any other offshore racer. With a limit of 84 entries, the Mini Transat race attracts the largest fleet of offshore racing yachts to the starting line of any other transatlantic race.
